10 Essential Dating Etiquette: Be Proud Not Cocky During Dates

You should be proud not cocky in order to get better dating results. Sometimes, in our earnest desire to impress, we tend to go overboard and end up sending our dates in the other direction. In some instances, we overdo it and come out obnoxious to our partners.

It is understandable that you want to come out impressive and appealing to your dates. You want to come off as a very likable and interesting person to be with. You find ways to impress and you want your dates to feel your sincere effort in making the occasion as enjoyable for her as possible. However, in doing so, you must be proud not cocky in the way you try hard at impressing your dates.

Here are some important tips in order for you to be proud not cocky when you are with your date.

1. Don’t bother your date with your past long-term relationships. Most people hate to hear stories, whether good or bad, about past relationships of others. They are conditioned to enjoy this special occasions and naturally, they want the evening to revolve on things about them and not about others.

2. Don’t come on too strong, especially on your first date, as this is a major turn-off. You must not go fast forward and talk about things related to marriage and the like; as this will surely make her to call it a night the moments she sees the opportunity.

3. To be proud not cocky does means that you do not talk about other people that you are presently dating. This sends off the wrong signal of being an inconsiderate and obnoxious person.

4. Avoid commenting on the attractiveness of others during your dates. Focus your time and attention on your date as she expects that everything revolves around her.

5. To be proud not cocky do not require you to dwell on your past traumatic experiences. Wait till your partner becomes comfortable with your relationship after a series of dates before you talk on more personal matters. Talking too soon may come off as creepy and weird.

6. Don’t solicit compliments unnecessarily as you may look too needy and desperate for attention.

7. To be proud not cocky means that you must give complements as this can effectively break the ice between you and the person you are with; especially during the first date. Compliments to you do not count!

8. Using your cell phone while you are on a date is utterly rude especially when you are supposed to give your undivided attention to your date. The last thing that you would like to happen is getting distracted by a call when you are already getting on to something special and interesting with your date.

9. Drinking too much while on a date is an element of a disastrous date. Drinking may impair ones memory and affect judgment. It also does not give a good first impression about who you really are. You might drink more than you normally would have to calm your nerves, however, it would be better for you to take it easy on those drinks because this can do more harm than good in most instances.

10. Don’t be late. Don’t make your date wait for you. Starting on the wrong foot by coming late to your date will not do you any good.
